One-Point Advice from Ms. Hoshizuki

This time's theme is "About Water."

We will explain the importance of daily hydration.

Hello everyone.

This is Hoshizuki.

The hot days continue, but are you doing well?

You often hear that "drinking 2 liters of water a day is ideal."

For adults, 55-65% of body weight is made up of water.

A 1% loss causes thirst, and a 2% loss can lead to dizziness, nausea, and loss of appetite.

A 10% loss can cause fainting, and at 20% loss, it can be life-threatening.

(If you can't drink a single drop of water, it is said that it becomes difficult to sustain life in 2-3 days...)

If you can hydrate properly every day, you can expect detoxification effects and improved skin quality.

The required water intake varies depending on age, build, and season, but generally, it's about 35 ml per 1 kg of body weight, so the目安 is 1750 ml for a 50 kg person and 2100 ml for a 60 kg person.

(Food also contains water, so you can factor that in!)

I know some of you may not like water, but tea and sports drinks are not true substitutes.

Try to find ways to make it enjoyable, even if it's just a little, like "trying hot water" or "adding fruit."

Also, coffee and alcohol have diuretic effects, and excessive consumption can lead to dehydration.

Do not include them in your 2L daily water intake, and try to actively hydrate, especially when you feel the need to urinate frequently.

How you drink is also important. If you drink a lot at once, your body won't be able to absorb it, leading to unnecessary excretion, chills, and swelling.

Aim to drink one cup (150ml to 200ml) frequently, especially when you wake up, exercise, before and after bathing, and before bed!
