At KDX Toyosu Grand Square, we have been calling for reductions in energy consumption as part of our efforts to create an environmentally friendly building. We are currently holding an "Energy Saving Idea Collection Campaign" with the aim of further reducing energy consumption.
The 10 people who submit particularly outstanding ideas will receive a 1,000 yen meal voucher . We look forward to hearing your energy-saving ideas in order to make KDX Toyosu Grand Square a more environmentally friendly and comfortable space.
Key points for energy saving in office buildings
The figure on the left shows that 60% of the energy consumption in an office building is consumed in "office-only areas." Additionally, from the figure on the right, you can see that the main sources of energy consumption in office areas are "lighting (40%)," "outlets (32%)," and "air conditioning (28%)," in that order.
(* "Common areas (23.2%)" → Power receiving and substation equipment, heat transfer, warehouse, machine room
*"Office common area (6.4%)" → toilets, elevators, conference rooms, rest rooms, reception rooms, etc.)
For these reasons, it is important to "try to save energy when using lighting and electrical appliances in each office." This is one of the key points for energy conservation in office buildings .
Particularly effective energy-saving measures that can be taken in exclusive office areas
The following are examples of particularly effective energy-saving measures that can be taken in exclusive office areas.
- Set the indoor temperature to energy saving mode (summer: 28℃, winter: 20℃)
It has been found that changing the room temperature during cooling from 26°C to 28°C reduced the amount of heat consumed by district heating and cooling by approximately 11%.
- Frequently turning off lights in unused rooms and during lunch breaks
Lighting consumes the most energy in office spaces. Saving electricity during bright morning hours is also effective.
Particularly effective energy-saving measures that can be taken in common office areas
In addition to exclusive office areas, users can also work on energy conservation in shared office areas (toilets, elevators, conference rooms, rest rooms, reception rooms, etc.). Looking at the energy consumption rate for the entire office building, the energy consumption rate for elevators is said to be 2.8% and for hot water supply at 0.8%, which are relatively low. Here again, energy conservation in lighting and air conditioning can be said to be particularly effective .
Please consider these things when considering energy saving ideas that can be done in the office (required) and energy saving ideas that can be done in the office common area (optional). I hope you find this helpful.
