World water shortage problem
The world is facing a serious water shortage. According to statistics from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, nearly 300 liters of water are used per person per day. Water shortages are causing a variety of problems, including areas where clean water cannot be secured and conflicts arising due to water shortages.
Water, which is essential for our survival, is expected to become increasingly scarce in the future due to factors such as global warming, population growth, and economic development.
The total world population is 7.875 billion people. Currently, 3.6 billion people, more than 40% of them, suffer from water shortages, and this number is predicted to continue to rise. If this situation continues, it is predicted that by 2050, about half of the world's population of approximately 9.7 billion people will be exposed to water shortages, and one in four people will be affected by chronic water shortages. .
Office water usage
Water is used in various situations in the office. It is said that toilet flushing water accounts for as much as 60-70% of office water bills. Conserving water is not only beneficial for the environment, but also from the perspective of cost reduction.
environmentally friendly water action
It is important to be conscious of not using water that you don't need when conserving water.
Water-saving actions you can take in the toilet
By using the ``large'' and ``small'' levers when turning the toilet lever, you can save water. Generally, a large toilet uses 6 liters of water, and a small toilet uses 5 liters of water. Try to use "small" when you don't need to use "large". It's only a 1 liter difference, but if you use it once a day, you can save 365 liters of water in a year.
Are you using the sink with water running all the time?
If you leave the water running while washing your hands or brushing your teeth after lunch, you end up wasting water. If you leave it running for one minute, 12 liters of water will be used. Water saving actions also lead to electricity saving. Please be conscious of turning off the water when not in use.
The use of water (use of water and sewage systems) consumes energy for water purification, supply, sewage treatment, etc., and is accompanied by CO2 emissions.
The CO2 emissions per 1m³ of tap water in Tokyo is 245g. (1m³=1000L)
To use clean water, be sure to finish your drink.
A large amount of water is required to process the organic matter contained in leftover drinks such as juice and beer to a concentration sufficient for fish to live in before discharging it into rivers. The amount of water used to process the remaining sip of orange juice at the end of a glass is equivalent to approximately 200 1.5L plastic bottles.
Make sure to drink all your drinks to the end, or save the amount from the beginning and pour it into a glass to avoid leaving anything behind.
