Do you know how much CO2 emissions airplanes emit?
Airplanes emit 102g of CO2 for transporting one person 1km.
On the other hand, trains emit 18g of CO2 for transporting one person 1km.
Comparing the two, we find that airplanes emit approximately six times more CO2 than trains. In addition, airplane engines also emit nitrogen oxides, fine soot, and water vapor. These also contribute to global warming.
In Europe and the United States, concerns about the impact of airplanes on global warming are spreading, and a movement called ``Flight Shame'' has begun to encourage people to be more environmentally friendly by using trains instead of airplanes, which emit a lot of CO2.
When traveling between Tokyo and Osaka, if you change your mode of transportation from an airplane to the Tokaido Shinkansen Nozomi, the energy consumption will be reduced to approximately one-eighth (per seat).
If you change your mode of transportation for business trips between Tokyo and Osaka from airplanes to trains, the overall CO2 emissions can be reduced by approximately 25%. (Source JR Tokai)
Please consider eco-friendly options when using transportation for business trips.
